August 21-30 - LST-325 Visit - Jeffersonville - A World War II troop landing ship is returning to Jeffersonville for a 10-day visit.  It generally will be open to visitors from 9a.m. to 5p.m. but will remain open until 7p.m. Aug. 26.  Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 7-18 with special rates for groups.  The LST-325 was at several battles in Italy and took part in the Normandy invasion in June 1944.  On Dec. 28, 1044 the ship helped rescue more than 700 men from a troop transport that was torpedoed off the coast of France, according to the ship's history.  Money raised helps the USS LST Ship Memorial Inc, the nonprofit organization that owns and maintains the ship to keep it operating.

- More than a dozen vendors selling fossils, minerals, educational material and food line the parking lot.
- Collect Silurian and Devonian fossils from special rock piles (more than 30 tons) donated and staffed by Hanson Aggregates.  (Fossil collecting is not permitted anywhere else in the park.)  Typically 800 to 900 kids of all ages search for "treasures" to take home.
- Mineral collecting pile from Rosiclare, Illinois!  Look for fluorite and other colorful minerals.
- Children's Activity Area with a variety of crafts activities scheduled, including pet rocks, weather rocks, and more - courtesy of the Kyana Geological Society and the Girl Scouts of America.
- Resource Tent where you can get fossils and rocks identified by members of the Indiana Society for Paleontology, the Kentucky Paleontological Society and the Kyana Geological Society - bring in your mystery rocks!  Pick up information from many other fossil parks in North America, as well as information and free literature from the Indiana and Kentucky Geological Surveys and other organizations.
- Enjoy guided walks on the fossil beds, including extended hikes on the outer fossil beds (river level permitting).
- For teachers - special educator's workshop on geology and fossils and the chance to win one of three geology collections for the classroom.

October 10 - Raptor Day, Falls of the Ohio State Park, Clarksville - Learn about birds of prey at our annual Raptor Day!
9:00 a.m. and throughout the day: Raptor watch on the observation deck. Members of the Fall’s Naturalist at Heart Program will be on the deck with binoculars and spotting scopes to help visitors find and observe birds of prey, such as the osprey, in their natural environment. They will also point out water fowl, such as herons, egrets and cormorants.
10:00 a.m. Hike to the outer beds of the National Wildlife Conservation Area, (river level permitting). Paul Olliges will lead this strenuous 3 hour hike to explore the habitat of migrating shore birds and waders, including the majestic Great Blue Heron. Hike limited to age 12 and over.
10:00 a.m. Live Raptors! The Hardy Lake Rehab Center staff will introduce a variety of Raptors – hawks, owls, and falcons. Each one has its own special story and personality! 90 minute program in the auditorium.
10:00 a.m. and throughout the day: Investigating Owl Pellets – a hands-on activity. Discover the feeding habits of birds of prey by dissecting owl pellets with Naturalist at Heart volunteers. Appropriate for all ages. Interpretive Center Lobby
1:00 p.m. Live Raptors! A second 90 minute presentation by the Hardy Lake Rehab Center. They will show more of their resident “birds of prey” and share each bird’s special story.
3:00 p.m. Hike in the National Wildlife Conservation Area. The whole family can do this hike, looking for osprey and hawks at Fisherman’s Point and enjoying a lovely view of the river. November  - Ohio River Greenway 5K Race/Walk and Kid's Fun Run - Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. on race day at Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Park in Clarksville.  Post-race festivities will include entertainment, refreshments, and a great  time!  Awards and prizes will be distributed during the post-race party after the last racers finish and as soon as times are posted by the timing company, approximately 11:15-11:30 a.m.  The Ohio River Greenway is full of historical sites and landmarks, just waiting to be re-discovered!  When plotting the 5K route we worked in plenty for you to see.  Some of the landmarks along the way include:  The Terrace Amphitheater at Riverside and Spring, The Ohio River Railroad Bridge, The George Rogers Clark Homesite, The site of the first school in Clarksville, The Mill Creek Bridge.  Sponsorships available starting at $250.00.  5K participants will be shuttled to the starting line at the Terrace Lawn via TARC Trolley after they are registered.  The race will start at 10:00 a.m.  Free, high quality, performance shirts are guaranteed to all who register by October 15.  Non-Refundable Early Registration Fees - $15 on or before October, $20 October 15-November 1.  Kid's Fun Run for ages 3-12 will start at approximately 11:00 a.m. at Lewis and Clark Park, after the last 5K participant crosses the finish line.  Non-refundable Early Registration Fee $5 - no cut off date - guaranteed t-shirt included to those registered by October 15.  For more info www.ohiorivergreenway.org or call (812) 989-9262.

Nov 1 - Haunted Bed and Breakfast Tour - Old Bridge Inn Bed and Breakfast, Jeffersonville - Several guests have reported seeing a ghost in the house, but no worries, the spirit is friendly.  Two psychics have reported seeing a  ghost but he's smiling and waving.  In addition to home tours the event will feature haunted story telling by various individuals.  Tours will be every hour from noon to 2p.m.  $7 per person.  All proceeds go to Animal Protection Association.
